Treatment Programme

Highland House is an 11 bed in resident treatment facility located in Plettenberg Bay South Africa. We offer 4 week, 6 week and extended care treatment programmes based on the 12 step Minnesota Model, a well recognized treatment regime for overcoming addiction. In addition to our UK trained counsellors we have qualified physicians, psychologists and other medical personnel, including resident 24/7 nursing sisters. All of whom are there to assist in medically monitored detoxification, to safeguard the patients health at all times and promote the physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing of the recovering individual.

“The therapeutic process begins upon arrival; counsellors start by assisting the client to understand and work the “12 step programme” as well as help the client understand the necessity and value of boundaries and structure. Throughout their stay in care, clients are encouraged to focus on the consequences of their addiction and to begin to face the reality of their lives. Typically treatment includes: detoxification, group therapy, individual counselling, workshops, goal setting, topic groups, morning walks and individual therapeutic work.”
